DSM builds fourth premix feed plant in China
DSM''s Nutritional Products, a Dutch-based company, signed an investment agreement on March 18, 2009 with Changchun Economic & Technological Development Zone to set up a premix feed plant in Changchun, Jilin Province.
With a total investment of US$5 million, the new plant, named DSM Vitamins (Changchun) Ltd, will begin construction work on May 2009 at Changchun Economic & Technology Zone. Slated to start production in December 2009, the plant will be DSM''s fourth premix feed factory in China after its earlier investments in Shanghai, Shandong and Hunan. With a projected annual output of 25,000 tonnes, it will provide premix feed to farmers and feed manufacturers in Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia. This will further strengthen DSM''s foothold in China''s feed market.
In order to meet the increasing demands for food safety, animal nutrition and feed quality in the premix feed industry, the new plant will strictly adhere to the company''s advanced safety and environment global standards for all of its operations.
Despite the global economic downturn, DSM''s investment in Changchun signals its strong confidence in China''s market, especially the premix feed industry, said Dr. Jiang Weiming, chairman of DSM China.
He added that DSM is fully on course towards its target of developing China''s feed and animal health and nutrition industry.
