Vietnam's animal feed imports leap by 70 percent
Vietnam's animal feed imports are expected to total US1.3 billion, leaping by 70 percent on-year from January to August period, the General Statistics Office on Thursday (August 28).
Huge volume of poultry and cattle feeds and raw materials for feed production such as corn and soy, were imported from India, Argentina, the US, Indonesia, Thailand and China.
Vietnam'sFinance Ministry has cut on the import taxes on whey and soy used to make animal feeds to 2 percent from previous 10 percent, and to zero percent from 2 percent, respectively.
The country spent nearly 1.1 billion dollars importing animal feeds and materials for production of animal feeds in 2007, up 52 percent against 2006.
