Nebraska slashes feed manufacturers' tax
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) reduced the current 10-cent-per-tonne feed tax on elevators, feed mills and ethanol plants, by 4 cents to 6 cents per tonne.
The Nebraska Grain and Feed Association (NGF) supported the regulations as the 4-cent reduction is seen to save Nebraska grain elevators, feed mills and ethanol plants over US$320,000 per year.
The regulation came after the industry's opposition on permanently shifting 2 cents from the current feed tax paid by the grain and feed industry to the state feed inspection programme.
