Vietnam's Vinh Long expands fish seed centre
With total investment of VND70 billion (US$3.3 million), the People Committee of Vinh Long province has recently approved the project of upgrading and expanding a fish seed centre located in Tan Hoi commune, Vinh Long city.
In the period from 2015 to 2018, the hatchery will be expanded from 6.8 hectares to the scale of 18 hectares, reports Vietnam Association of Seafoods Export Processors (VASEP).
The hatchery is designed to meet standard for first-grade farm of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
It will produce 1,025 million of fries, 16 million of fingerlings and 20 million of fishseeds of all varieties and 1,320 million of giant freshwater prawn seeds, providing 50% of the locality and neighbouring provinces' demand for fries and 10% of demand for aquatic seeds.
