Chinese
methionine
traders cut prices to move sales
Prices of methionine moved lower during the week ending November 16.
Feed millers continued to stay cautious as broiler prices slid amid the
H7N9
bird flu scare.
Price quotes of imported dl-methionine were lower in the range of RMB95-110/kg
On November 15,
DuPont
's chemical plant in La Porte, Texas manufacturing
methyl
mercaptan, a key ingredient of methionine production, was shut down for investigation due to an industrial accident that caused the death of four workers.
Even though feed millers will still be wary of the impact of H7N9 bird flu on the
poultry
market, they are expected to stockpile inventories in the coming week, supporting prices to move higher.
RMB1=US$0.1633 (Nov 17)
