Chen Xiaohua meets his Brazilian counterpart

Vice Minister Chen Xiaohua met with Tatiana Lipovetskaia Palermo, International Relations Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Beijing on May 12th, 2015. The two sides exchanged views on pragmatically deepening the bilateral agricultural cooperation.

 

Vice Minister Chen said that in recent years the two ministries have maintained good cooperative relations, the cooperative mechanism has been increasingly improved, and the cooperation in agricultural S&T has been pragmatic and creative. The bilateral agricultural trade has developed fast and the agricultural investment increased. The two ministries have maintained sound collaboration in the international food and agriculture affairs. China is willing to work with Brazil to conduct more joint projects featuring pragmatic cooperation.

 

Vice Minister Chen put forward a 3-point proposal: first, make full preparation for Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Brazil accompanied by Minister Han Changfu and promote the high-level visits between the two countries; second, give full play to China-Brazil Joint Committee on Agriculture and its working groups, assist the China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee in the establishment of its subcommittee on agriculture to create conditions for future cooperation; third, strengthen the bilateral cooperation in veterinary service and advance joint efforts related with SPS agreement between the two countries.  

 

Ms. Palermo agreed with Chen on his proposal. She said that China is one of the most important agricultural trade partners of Brazil. She hoped that the two sides strengthen communication and coordination in biotechnology and agricultural trade and further deepen the bilateral agricultural cooperation.
